The Mistress |
|||||
An Australian Bodied Model 610 Tourer |
|||||
The Mistress was technically the second Graham paige we purchased. The first being a very early 610 sedan in dire condition. The tourer turned up a couple of months later in very similar condition, but in typical vintage car restorer logic, it was decided that the tourer was a better proposition as there was only half the body to build. The restoration started in the early 1970s with the below remains. note the Mk5 Jaguar being used as a tow car |

By the time it got home there was no timber left in the body. So off to a full restoration. |

1981 We finally got her on the road. Saturday/Sunday we were fitting the guards, while the car was in the trimmers, using their workshop. Thursday it was registered, by the next monday it was fitted with a camper trailer and was off to Canberra (1200KM/800Mi round trip). It made it with some issues. Mostly related to using the old plugs and when the radiator was rebuild the rebuilder removed the baffle plate that stops the water being pushed out the filler neck. |

It was then used for everything from weddings, vintage car rallies and even hillclimbing. During that time the wheels were changed from the Original Wood wheels to the much more sporty wires |

After about a decade life intervened and it was put into the garage. Then my wife and I decided it needed some more exercise. SO we did some recommision work and started using it. incuding our wedding |
